info
My writing has appeared in the New York Times, Virginia Quarterly Review, Kenyon Review online, Guernica, Bellevue Literary Review, The Millions, and in the 2011 Pushcart Prize anthology. My first novel, You Are One of Them (Penguin Press, 2013), was a New York Times Book Review Editors' Choice, was longlisted for the Flaherty-Dunnan First Novel Prize from the Center for Fiction, and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle's inaugural John Leonard Award for a first book. I've received fellowships from the Sewanee Writers' Conference, Kenyon Review Writers' Workshop, Tin House Summer Writers Workshop, and Yaddo.
I'm also an experienced editor. I used to work for One Story magazine and I've edited several friends' novel manuscripts. I'm available for manuscript consultations, so if your short story or novel needs developmental editing, contact me! Prices are by the page.
